Evy Roussakis

Evy graduated from the Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy Assistant Program at Durham College’s Oshawa campus in June 2016. Prior to this, she completed an undergraduate degree from York University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Dance, in October 2013. This transition from dance to therapy developed from Evy’s belief that everyone should be able to participate in their favourite activities. Her need to help herself and her fellow dancers rehabilitate to their pre-injury level of performance led her to the field of therapy.

Evy has had four placement opportunities through the program at Durham College, allowing her to explore the whole aging spectrum. She has worked with the geriatric population in a long term care facility, has had extensive experience working with middle aged clients in a clinic setting, and has provided resources and strategies for children and young adults with mental health and neurological issues through a 5 month long placement at Nova’s Ark. Crossing international borders in 2015, she completed a 4 week volunteer placement in Hanoi, Vietnam at the Friendship Village, a community organization that provides education and healthcare to children affected by the chemical warfare Agent Orange.

Evy’s extensive experience with children and young adults has allowed her to develop the tools and strategies to work with the pediatric population in clinic and community settings.
